Do I still get the devilbone die for free if I only backed at the Deliciously Digital tier?

No, the devilbone die is only available free to backers who are receiving physical items. However, if you backed at any level before 10am Eastern on Thursday, February 13th (first 48 hours), you can upgrade your pledge to a physical tier before the end of the campaign and still receive the free devilbone die. After the first 48 hours, you can purchase the devilbone die as an add-on.

Can the Devilbone die be used in the TTRPG?

While the Devilbone die is an amazing collector’s item, it does not have a mechanical purpose in the roleplaying game. That said, there may be an additional in-game surprise included with the shiny math rock. Stay tuned!

Can I upgrade my Reward Tier through Backerkit after the Kickstarter ends?

Yes! And add any add-ons you want!

Last updated: February 06, 2025 15:47

It says I get all the physical rewards, but then why are there so many add-ons? Do I need to add anything?

We add the add-ons for every physical reward to give digital backers and those wanting extra copies of rewards the chance to get them. If your reward tier says ALL unlocked physical stretch goals, it means all of them. You do not need any add-ons.

Last updated: February 06, 2025 15:47

Why can't I see all the items I'm getting when I select my reward tier?

Kickstarter is set up so that once a campaign goes live, the descriptions in any pledge tier CANNOT be edited. This is to ensure that the customer gets what they paid for without surprises. This is also why in tier descriptions you’ll see something similar to, “all PDF rewards, and all physical stretch goals unlocked during the campaign.”

Not every item can be listed because at launch it isn’t known what, if any, stretch goals will be met.

Last updated: February 11, 2025 07:29

Can I make my own reward tier a la carte?

Yes! If you want to choose your add-ons right now, you can pledge for a reward tier with a physical reward, like (standard) or (deluxe) books and then choose your add-ons. If you want to choose your add-ons at a later date, you can pledge $1 right now and select your add-ons after the campaign closes in Backerkit.

Is the core system like Avatar Legends: the RPG?

No! While we still love Powered by the Apocalypse games, such as Avatar Legends: the RPG and other games in our catalogue, Fallen London: the RPG will feature a new unique system called Ædana™ developed by Magpie Games.

Last updated: March 08, 2025 12:50

Will I get access to the pledge manager if I pledge $1?

Yes! You will! After the campaign closes!

Last updated: February 06, 2025 15:47

How many players for the game? Can it be one player?

The game shines at 3 - 5 players. The game can be played with just one GM and one player, but the GM would likely need to make adjustments to other mechanisms and the level of opposition in order to accommodate the single player character.

How much lore is in the book?

There is an entire chapter of Fallen London lore that promises a delightful delve into the familiar and hidden parts of the Neath. Along with the core book, you can find even more lore in the supplement!

Last updated: February 06, 2025 15:47

Where does the Ædana System take its name from?

We talked about a lot – and we mean A LOT – of different names! There were so many we liked but couldn’t use for one reason or another. Ædana is the one that managed to survive this rigorous process! Ædana in particular kind of comes from Áes Dána, meaning “people of the arts” in Old Irish – “people of the arts” being figures like bards and seanchaithe (traditional Irish storytellers). There are some connections to the Tuath Dé, as well, in that they are grand mythological figures whose power is often centered around creation and “art” and stories. That idea of storytellers and stories, of creation and crafters, was one we liked. We were looking to capture the notion of people driven to leave their mark, and this hit some of those notes for us. We condensed to Ædana (even though the Æ character is not from that linguistic tradition) in order to make it distinctive for legal reasons, while retaining these ideas.

Will there be translations of the game into other languages other than English?

We will be working with Failbetter Games to find publishing partners in other regions who can localize the game. Stay tuned!

We will deliver these digital items via Backerkit after the campaign closes. You will receive a code you can redeem on the Fallen London website, except for the Acquisitive Magpie Advisor which is detailed below.

The Rules for the Benthic Kriegsspiel, 3rd Edition is an item for use in the Fallen London browser game.

This item is a mechanically useful Home Comfort that grants Watchful, A Player of Chess, and Inerrant. Having it will unlock an exclusive header and cameo frame in the browser game, unique to Kickstarter backers.

The Acquisitive Magpie Advisor is a companion (digital item) available for the Fallen London browser game. This is a free item that does not require being a backer! Anyone who logs into the Fallen London browser game during the time of our Kickstarter will receive this item for free (regardless of if they are backers or not).

When will I receive the digital items for the Fallen London browser game?

Digital items will be delivered after surveys have gone out on Backerkit and during the reward fulfillment phase of the project. We will notify you via a Kickstarter Update when we plan to deliver these rewards.

Last updated: February 10, 2025 14:23

Why does the additional digital pledge say it includes the Magpie companion?

Good catch! This is a mixup. You will receive the Benthic Kriegsspiel, 3rd Edition. The Acquisitive Magpie Advisor is free for anyone who signs into Fallen London during the Kickstarter campaign.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
